Look Up! A Casual Stargazing Guide
Designed for a collaborative installation project centered around color. My group chose to use calming blues and a starry theme to bring a moment of peace and reflection to our busy school building. My group project partners created short animations to be played on a public television screen at the top of every hour, and I created this zine as a takeaway to accompany them.
The zine was designed to give readers some knowledge of easy-to-spot objects in the night sky, encouraging them to pause and take a moment to look up at the stars. It features a few bright and iconic constellations, the planet Venus, and how to watch a meteor shower. These are all celestial objects that are possible to observe with the naked eye and despite moderate light pollution, drawn from my personal experience with backyard astronomy and stargazing in Ann Arbor. The back also includes a QR code to a "sky tonight" website that can provide up-to-date information.
