Chameleon

I often struggle with the idea that to be a successful artist, I must "find my style." Many of the professional artists I admire have a clear and consistent look to their artwork, but I have always had a multitude of different styles and techniques that I shift between. I've been encouraged by art teachers and mentors to embrace this as a skill and not a failing, and have come to think of myself as an artistic chameleon, shifting between styles to match my environment. This zine is a representation of that idea.

"Chameleon" was sketched on paper and drawn in grayscale with markers on two sheets of tracing paper, one for each color layer. These were then scanned and cleaned and printed via risograph. With a title like "Chameleon," it felt only appropriate to print the zine in two colorways: plum/mint and light teal/light lime.
